GROW: Contemporary design approaches for engaging public awareness and understanding of today’s journey of food

The St. Louis Science Center opened the GROW exhibit this past June, which is the first of its size in the U.S. to focus on the multi‐faceted aspects of agriculture, both large and small scale. This morning keynote will share the objectives and goals of this permanent, science‐based exhibit intended to raise public awareness of our role to be stewards of our food supply. GROW, the largest exhibit expansion to the Science Center in more than 30 years, transcends the walls and interior exhibits of the St. Louis Science Center as the an outdoor, living science exhibit. Learn the role of landscape architecture to solve the challenges of telling the story of both local and global agriculture.

Presentation learning objectives:

  •  Participants will learn best practices for sharing agricultural strategies with the public.

  •  Participants will learn how the project’s Agricultural Exhibit will engage the public about the agriculture

    industry.

  •  Participants will learn traditional and modern monitoring methods for crop development.
